The first trailer of Tamil period film Kochadaiiyaan starring superstar Rajinikanth was unveiled on September 9 and within a day of its release, it has got almost a million views.Ranjinikanth’s return to the silver screen after three years has stirred a lot of interest in his fans and film fraternity.
Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan who is currently shooting for Happy New Year in Dubai with Kochadaiiyaan lead actress Deepika Padukone, expressed his enthusiasm on watching the trailer.
He tweeted: “Congratulations to my friend @sound_a_rajini the teaser looks AWESOME!!! HE’S BACK!!”
Deepika Padukone, however was missing from the first trailer, but Soundarya said that she will feature prominently in the second teaser.
“The beautiful princess Vadhana Devi (Deepika’s character)… Next teaser just to reveal your stunning looks,” Soundarya posted on twitter.
Raanjhanaa actor and Rajinikanth’s son-in law Dhanush also tweeted: “Vamos rafa!! a fighter who inspires me in all my battles.what a comeback!!!!!!! so happpyyyyyyyyyy”
The film, which will mark the directorial debut of the 62-year-old actor’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin, narrates the story of a 8th century Pandiya King, Kochadaiyaan Ranadhiran.
Kochadaiiyaan is touted to be India’s first motion capture technology (MOCAP) film being made along the lines of Hollywood films like Avatar, Polar Express and Tin Tin.
The music has been composed by Oscar winner AR Rahman and will be launched in October. Rajinikanth himself has also lend his voice in one song in the film.
Kochadaiiyaan will be dubbed and simultaneously released in Telugu (as Vikrama Simha), Malayalam, English and Hindi. The film will hit theatres on Rajinikanth’s birthday on December 12.
